Climate Change - Local Measures

July 2, 2019 3:10 PM

Climate ChangesIn May, the Government published a Climate Change Report which called for "a major ramp-up in effort" to tackle Climate Change. The Government is calling on Councils to review their policies.
Listening to Southwell residents during the Local Elections, we know that there is growing concern about the environment.
Malcolm Brock and Peter Harris will be raising the matter at the District Council. The Town Council has created a Climate Change Working Group and we have a number of local initiatives in mind.

For example, Liberal Democrat led Otley Town Council has recently introduced a scheme to refill plastic bottles, installing drinking fountains together with water points in shops in the town.

This has dramatically reduced the number of single use plastic bottles used in the town.

If it proves to be feasible, do you think this would be a good idea here?
