Pothole Claims - £5.1m Cost

April 22, 2019 9:30 AM

Pothole Vicarage RoadIt's official; Nottinghamshire has the worst potholes in the Country.

Over the past five years the County Council has paid out £5.1 million in compensation to motorists and cyclists. This is the largest payout by any Council.
Even after two years in charge, the Conservatives are blaming the previous Labour administration for the poor state of our roads. However the decade of under-investment began when the Conservatives were running the Council until 2013.

Now, there is a £143 million backlog of road problems which will take many years to bring back to an ideal standard. Meanwhile, more compensation will be paid out at the Council Tax payers' expense.

Locally, the main through roads in Southwell are in a sorry state with may needing complete resurfacing.

Residents have contacted Cllr Stuart Thompstone at the Liberal Democrat caravan to complain about the road safety humps in the town. They certainly need more than quick fix repairs.
