Fly Tipping Problems

June 7, 2018 1:59 PM

Fly-tipping is increasing. Dumped waste has been reported on local roads. Unlicensed waste carriers are a growing problem, but part of it is casual dumping instead of making a trip to the re-cycling centre.
A year ago the Conservatives made a County Council election promise to investigate the re-opening of Fiskerton tip. At the Town Council meeting in May, Liberal Democrat Cllr Peter Scorer asked our County Councillor how the investigation was progressing. The answer was "no progress".

Littering, especially along our roadsides is also on the increase. Since January 2016 there have been seven prosecutions for littering in the whole of Newark and Sherwood and NONE in Southwell Parish.
Lib Dem Councillors have been taking matters into their own hands. Our first port of call was the road to Hockerton but all the roads into Southwell need attention.
We will be out again tidying other 'grot spots' soon. Do let us know where else we should go. We will let local residents in the vicinity know when we will be out and put a note through your letterbox, and on our website
