Southwell to contribute £500,000 a year for one PCSO

PCSOsNottinghamshire police numbers are at their lowest level for 30 years, down by 331 in the last five years.
Southwell Residents contribute around £500,000 in Council Tax to the Police Authority but cuts have reduced the Police presence to one Police Community Support Officer.
Late last year the custody suite at Newark Police Station was mothballed. Now there is talk of the Police Station, which was purpose built only ten years ago, closing altogether.
At the same time as these cuts are being made in Newark and Southwell, there are plans to build a brand new £15.7 million custody suite in Nottingham!
People have the right to feel safe in their own communities and Liberal Democrat Councillors will be lobbying for adequate policing for Southwell and the surrounding villages.
